HORNMANUFAKTUR PETZ, FOUNDED IN 1862

The most well-known item made from horn is the traditional horn comb, then as now a valued product and namesake of the entire branch of craft. Centuries ago, the horn comb maker's guild was widespread. The ever-increasing industrialization made it increasingly difficult for small craft businesses to keep up. After the Second World War, there were only around 80 comb makers left in Austria. Friedrich Petz was the last horn chamber maker in Austria to receive his master's certificate in 1951. Despite the difficult times and the trend towards plastic products, the Petz couple successfully led the business through all adversities.

Years later, his grandson Thomas Petz became interested in the craftsmanship of the horn comb maker and decided to revitalize the factory in the 15th district in 2008. The result is a product range that combines modern designs and traditional craftsmanship methods, making Petz's products so special and unique.
