Suede leather has a silk-soft surface, reason being that the flesh-side of the leather is utilized on the outside.
Suede shoes are particularly easy to clean, scratches are hardly visible, dirt and worn areas are easily brushed out with a special brass-wire brush. A certain amount of waterproofing can be achieved by using an usual penetrating spray. Apply it damp - not wet - and after it has dried brush the nap of the leather.
One can remove greasy areas with a suede rubber.
Even extremely dirty suede shoes can be cleaned with saddle soap.
